Frequently asked questions
Follow these steps to ensure all stakeholders have access to the project file:
1. Click the Add button on the Portfolio page. Select your project management options, give the project a name, and turn Collaboration Mode ON.
2. Click the Select Location button. Select a folder on your cloud drive (e.g., OneDrive, Google Drive, or Dropbox). This folder should not contain any other Project EMC2 project files.
3. The application will automatically create a README.txt file. Please review the contents and ensure that all collaborators do the same.
4. Share the top-level folder (the one you selected in step 2) with all project collaborators using your cloud service’s sharing feature. Make sure to grant full access so they can view and update project data.
5. Ensure the folder is synchronized locally on your computer and instruct all collaborating stakeholders to do the same.
• Use your cloud service’s desktop sync client (e.g., OneDrive app, Google Drive for desktop) to sync the shared folder to each device.
• This guarantees offline access and automatic updates for both project file.

Project EMC2 sends email by launching a standard mailto: link through Windows. To have those links open Gmail instead of Outlook or another desktop app, you’ll configure two things:
1. Windows — set your browser as the default “Email” handler
2. Your browser — allow Gmail to handle `mailto:` links
Once these steps are complete, Project EMC2 will open a new Gmail draft automatically whenever you send a report.
Step 1 — Set Your Browser as the Default Email App in Windows
1. Open Settings
2. Go to Apps → Default apps
3. Scroll to Email
4. Select your preferred browser (Chrome, Edge, Firefox, Brave, etc.)
This tells Windows to open your browser whenever EMC2 triggers a `mailto:` link.
Step 2 — Enable Gmail as the Handler for Email Links
Different browsers expose this setting in slightly different places. Choose your browser below:
1. Google Chrome
2. Open Chrome and go to https://mail.google.com
3. Look for the double‑diamond icon in the address bar
4. When prompted, choose Allow Gmail to open email links
If you don’t see the icon:
• Go to Settings → Privacy and security → Site settings → Additional permissions → Handlers
• Turn on Allow sites to ask to become default handlers
• Reload Gmail and accept the prompt
Microsoft Edge
1. Open Gmail in Edge
2. Click the lock icon in the address bar
3. Select Permissions for this site
4. Set Handlers to Allow
5. Reload Gmail and accept the prompt
Mozilla Firefox
1. Open Settings → General
2. Scroll to Applications
3. Find mailto
4. Set the action to Use Gmail
Step 3 — Test Your Setup
Send a report from Project EMC2 on the Preview and Send page.
If everything is configured correctly:
- Your browser opens
- Gmail loads
- A new message window appears with the To, Subject, and Body fields pre‑filled. Follow any additional instructions.
Tips & Troubleshooting
- Make sure you’re signed into Gmail in the browser you selected
- If Gmail doesn’t open, recheck the Handlers setting in your browser
- Switching browsers later requires repeating these steps
- Clearing your browser cache can help if the handler prompt doesn’t appear

Note: The latest version of Microsoft Outlook is now fully compatible with HTML content from the clipboard and should paste with correct formatting. If you have an older version, it is recommended to upgrade. Otherwise, use the procedure below.
If your pasted report loses color and text formatting when using the "New Outlook" email application, follow these steps:
1. On the Preview and Send page, click Send. Outlook should open a new email with the recipients, subject line, and body pre-populated with instructions.
2. Select the text in the body and click the Paste button in the email toolbar.
3. Click the "Paste anyway" button (DO NOT use CTRL+V).
